The "Voice of the Windrush Sons"  is an innovative and meaningful project that delves deeply into and celebrates the distinctive and often profound bonds between fathers and sons. These relationships are particularly highlighted for those sons born in the United Kingdom to Caribbean parents during the crucial and historic period from 1948 to 1971, a time that shaped the very fabric of British society.

Honouring these trailblazing fathers is not merely a responsibility; it is an essential and heartfelt endeavour aimed at recognizing their rich, multifaceted, and lasting legacy within our communities. Their sacrifices and commitment have paved the way for generations to come.

This project has been purposefully crafted to capture, document, and preserve the unique perspectives and heartwarming narratives of first-generation sons, offering a detailed exploration of their complex relationships with their fathers. These stories hold emotional and cultural significance, serving as vital links to our shared past.

As these sons enter the final stages of their lives, the importance and urgency of documenting their poignant and moving stories grow increasingly clear. Their insights provide not just personal reflections, but also a window into a shared cultural heritage that must be safeguarded and celebrated for future generations to appreciate and learn from.

While the primary focus of this project is on the cherished and special relationships between sons and their fathers, it is equally important to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contributions of Caribbean daughters  and mothers within these families. Their roles and experiences are a key part of this narrative, a topic we will explore in depth in future episodes of the project.
